Solid brass with slight remains of what appears to be silver plating. Sliding pointed setting on rim still moves. Four screw holes and portal over another hole does not move yet. Smaller holes as made.
43.4 grams in weight. 6 cm diameter. 1 cm thick. Very robust early clock part, probably an automobile clock ( most probably from an early Ford ) or an alarm clock.
Clearly marked L. SANDOZ-VUILLE SWISS on the inside.
Interesting clock part.
Louis Sandoz-Vuille was born in 1872 and his company was formally established in Switzerland in April 1908 . The name was changed to Fils de Sandoz-Vuille in 1928 dating this piece between 1908 and 1928.
The firm offered portable and automobile clocks as well as Sandoz' signature 8-day alarm watch.
