1902 saw Sydney Back’s father arrive in South Africa from Lithuania. In 1916 he purchased the farm Klein Babylonstoren, near Paarl. Today, the farm is known as Backsberg Wine Estate. Sydney Back Brandy is the product of over 80 years of wine making experience at Backsberg and the distillation and maturation skill of Robert Leaute, a leading French Cognac consultant. With prestige comes acclaim and in 1995 Sydney Back Brandy won the Domecq Trophy at the London International Wine and Spirits Competition, judged the Best Brandy in the World!
