SYPHON FILTER : LOGAN'S SHADOW PSP GAME
Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow looks amazing. It’s one of a growing number of recent PSP titles that do a great job squeezing PS2-quality graphics into the portable. The cut-scenes go even a step further, and sometimes the pictures were so great I almost didn’t want to play. I just wanted to soak in the sights.
The sounds are realistic and impressive. The score that accompanies the game rocks pretty hard as well. The voice-acting, portrayed by a man who sounds like the twisted spawn of Kurt Russel and Keanu Reeves, is clearly over-the-top. But I think the guy who also does Ratchet of Ratchet & Clank (see our review) does the perfect voice for this role.
This third person shooter mixes aspects of run-and-gun and stealth, and it does a good job of changing up these elements. Seconds after unleashing round-after-round on the terrorist foes, you’ll be creeping around. The game allows for blind-firing and leaning, which are apparently new features. They are features I’ve gotten used to in other stealth titles, and I’m glad they were included.
