The Takex OMS-12FE Dual-Zone Outdoor PIR Detector provides reliable wired motion detection for residential, commercial and industrial perimeter security. It protects an adjustable area of up to 12 metres across a wide 180° field, making it suitable for entrances, external walls, yards, passages and building frontages. Its fixed left and right detection sections use horizontal and downward zones together to reduce nuisance alarms from small animals and movement beyond the selected range.
Key Features
- Protects a wide perimeter. The two fixed 90° detection sections combine to provide coverage across an area of up to 180°.
- Adjusts from 3 to 12 metres. Set the detection distance to match the protected area rather than allowing coverage to extend unnecessarily towards roads or neighbouring properties.
- Reduces nuisance alarms. An alarm is generated only when the horizontal and downward zones in the same detection area are activated together.
- Allows one-sided protection. Disable either the left or right 90° area when only one side of the detector needs to be monitored.
- Adapts to different environments. Selectable one-, two-, three- or four-pulse operation and adjustable sensitivity help the installer balance response and stability.
- Supports common wired alarm inputs. The selectable normally closed or normally open dry-contact output connects to a suitable alarm-panel zone.
- Detects physical interference. Front and back tamper protection can report attempts to open the housing or remove the detector from its mounting surface.
- Designed for outdoor use. The IP54 housing is suitable for wall-mounted indoor or outdoor installations when the cable entries and mounting points are correctly sealed.
Did You Know?
- The OMS-12FE uses fixed sensor heads. Unlike an adjustable-head detector, it cannot aim the left and right sections in different directions, but either 90° side can be disabled when full 180° coverage is unnecessary.
- The detector does not have a published pet-weight rating. Its resistance to small-animal activations depends on correct mounting height, ground level, range adjustment and ensuring that animals do not reach the horizontal detection zones.
- The back-tamper function depends on the supplied rubber actuator being fitted correctly. Without it, opening the cover may still operate the front tamper, but removal from the wall may not be detected as intended.
Compatibility & App Support
Compatible with wired alarm panels and controllers that provide a suitable 928V DC supply and accept a dry-contact alarm input. The OMS-12FE is not wireless and does not connect directly to a mobile app; app alerts depend on the alarm panel and communicator used with it.
The supplied masking sheets allow selected detection zones to be excluded. A Takex BP-32 mounting kit can be purchased separately for suitable pole installations. Professional installation, accurate range adjustment and a complete walk test are recommended.
