As war rages in Africa, its hand to hand combat in the battle to get the lead story on the Ten OClock News.
After years of conflict, the civil war in the African nation of Karibu comes under the fickle spotlight of the Western media. The corrupt President Kubwasana will now be featured nightly, at least until there is a better story elsewhere
For Harry Chambers, the local BBC stringer, its his big break. That is until the London newsroom despatches its own team, led by the BBCs egotistical foreign editor David Bradburn (Martin Jarvis). Joining Davids team is the hard-nosed, long suffering producer Jane (Doon Mackichan) who has the near impossible job of organising David, the cameramen Jack and Rory, irritably-bowelled Margaret from the World Service, and some friendly locals. If only all would go to plan then theyd be on for the best story of their lives.
Of course, there are a few minor obstacles: the desperately uninterested London desk producers; all-action American star reporter, Candida Colter; the BBCs Brussels Correspondent whos muscling in on their story, and the small matter of people shooting at you in a strange country!
Written and produced by experienced, award winning journalists and including cameo appearances from Mackenzie Crook, Rub Wax and real BBC News anchors.
