Pentax Takumar Macro Bellows Set
It is common knowledge that the best macro photography is performed with a macro bellows attachment.
Considering that prime macro lenses cost in the region of R3000 to R4000, the use of with a good lens bellows is a viable option.
These M42 bellows use special flat surface macro lenses, although one can use any close focus M42 wide angle lens as well, with excellent results. With a bellows, one can go much larger than 1:1 with absolute crispness and clarity, although good lighting becomes a crucial aspect in extreme close-ups.
When a standard lens is extended by bellows or rings so that it is closer to the subject than to the film/sensor plane the curvature of field is exaggerated. It is especially noticeable with flat objects and magnifications greater than 1:2. The advantage of bellows (and macro lenses in general) is that they are designed to compensate for that curvature of field at the expense of cost and different mechanical design. Bellows lenses generally don't have focus mechanisms as a combination of camera movement and bellows extension suffices.
To fit this macro bellows set to your Canon, Nikon, Minolta, or Pentax Digital Camera you will require an M42 adaptor. (These adaptors are available locally and I will advise the buyer where they can be sourced)
