Notes from the Author
This book contains 122 court case documents, 202 pages and just over 79400 words. During this time, between May and October 1754, the Cape of Good Hope was devastated with the loss of 2072 people. This took place 50 years before the English took over the Cape of Good Hope from the Dutch.
The book looks at two civil cases, one criminal case against Jacob Taillard and his sentenced to Robben Island. At the return of Jacob Taillard from Robben Island he worked at the Company for another 12 years, his retirement from the Company, his marriage to Johanna Elisabeth Buijs, their last will and testament, their life together and their 3 sons. Find out what happened to his first wife Maria Petronella Jordaan, their son Louis Francois after Jacob Taillard was sentenced. Then I look at Louis Francois Taljaard, his farms he owned and his children.
At the end of this book, you will find a list of the Taljaard family that is available on the different heritage sites on the web. This is your chance to find your ancestors.
