We used the cleaner a couple of times - it does not map the room and will roam around on its own.  We have a large house and it is not the best tool to keep larger areas clean, it was, however, brilliant in the smaller areas such as the kitchen and hallway.  We are selling it because it is upsetting to the animals and cannot keep up with the entire house.  Ideal for a flat or keeping smaller areas clean.
