Multi-Coloured FLORAL SPRAYS, ROSES, Wide Bright BLUE Band & GOLD trim from Fenton, Staffordshire, England.

Dimensions:

Cup = rim diameter 83mm x handle to rim edge 105mm x Height 71mm.

Condition : VERY Good condition.

Saucer = 138mm diameter x 20mm deep.

Condition: VERY Good condition.

Cake Plate = 161mm diameter x 13mm deep.

Condition: Good condition.

History = Robinson & Son formed Foley China Works in Longton, Staffordshire, UK in 1881, subsequently Elijah Brain became a partner. In 1903, the company became E. Brain & Co., Ltd. with Elijah and his son William Henry Brain continuing to use Foley China as a trade name. The company used the Foley China name in Fenton, England for 60 years until 1963 after having purchased Coalport in 1958 and deciding in 1963 to use the better known Coalport trade name. Family control of the business ceased in July, 1967 when Josiah Wedgwood & Sons, Ltd. purchased it. The EB Foley (E. Brain & Co. Ltd) mark on the bottom of these is from Geoffrey A. Godden's Encyclopaedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks as mark #543. This mark was used in the 1936 -1948 time period.
