Ted Hoefsloot was born in Amsterdam, Holland in 1930.  He passed on in December 2013. He studied advanced drawing and silkscreening at the Amsterdamse Graficshe School and emigrated to South Africa in 1955. He worked as a commercial artist in Cape Town (where he managed an art studio for a number of years) as well as a book designer in Johannesburg. He had his first solo exhibition in Stellenbosch in 1965 and participated in numerous group exhibitions. His paintings hang in prestigious private and corporate collections around the world, notably the collection of Dr Anton Rupert, First National Bank, The Palace at Sun City and the Coca Cola head offices in Atlanta, Georgia USA. He is well known for his wildlife art, but has in recent years focused solely on South African landscapes.
