There are two main theories of Tektite origin, both with compelling scientific arguments.
The terrestrial impact theory states that as a large meteorite impacts the earth it catapults globules of molten material (tektites) up to several 100 kilometers away.
The Lunar/extra terrestrial theory says that tektites do not contain terrestrial sediments and contain only 0.005% water - very similar to lunar rocks. Most tektites therefore originate from the moon either as volcanic ejecta or from meteorite impacts on the moons surface that blasted lunar material into space. This material was swept up into space and captured by the earths gravitational field.
Also called Glass meteorites, they make fabulous talking points and conversation makers.
Many people say “show me and I will believe” But the power of belief is incredible, and many can testify that belief (or faith) is the creator of things unseen. Put the meteorite in a pocket and ask people “Would you believe me, if I said that I have something in my pocket that does not come from this world?" (I have never had one person believe me!)
