This volume focuses on all aspects of telephony and includes sections on: principles of telephony; properties of telephone circuits; telephone receiver; telephone transmitters; telephone apparatus; magnet-generators and bells; circuits of telephone instruments; telephone instruments; installation of telephones; line disturbances and transpositions; long-distance telephony; magneto-switchboards; large magneto-switchboards; and telephone-switchboard apparatus. ICS was founded in 1890 as the Colliery Engineer School of Mines, which was soon renamed the International Correspondence Schools of Scranton. ICS was the first distance learning institution in America. This is full of great illustrations of early telephones, switchboards, and other equipment.
