Hardcover published 1855 by Macmillan & Co. Worn cloth boards, with split to head of spine covering, and fraying starting at both ends of the spine. Fold-out map present, with one short tear to an edge, and it has been misfolded. Four plates present, with some foxing, and a split starting to the binding at page 49. The binding overall is weak, but no page is detached. It is possible this copy belonged to a daughter of John Colenso, Harriette Emily Colenso, as these initials are written at the top of the title page. Loosely inserted is a folded photograph of Harriette and Agnes Colenso. This photograph contains a strip of paper taped to the rear containing the typed words "Harriette and Agnes Colenso (both died in 1932), daughters of Bishop Colenso and passionate advocates of the Zulu cause. (K.C.)"
