Battery Charger Li-Ion, NiCd, NiMH battery, 6V input, 2V / 2A charge, SOIC-8Product OverviewThe BQ2000SN-B5 is a programmable Monolithic IC for fast-charge management ofnickel cadmium (NiCd), nickel metal-hydride (NiMH), or Li-ion (Li-ion) batteriesin single- or multi-chemistry applications. The BQ2000 chooses the properbattery chemistry (either nickel or lithium) and proceeds with the optimalcharging and termination algorithms. This process eliminates undesirable,undercharged, or overcharged conditions and allows accurate and safe terminationof fast charge. For safety, the BQ2000 inhibits fast charge until the batteryvoltage and temperature are within user-defined limits. If the battery voltageis below the low-voltage threshold, the BQ2000 uses trickle-charge to conditionthe battery. For NiMH batteries, it provides an optional top-off charge tomaximize the battery capacity.
