Binary Synchronous Counter, 32 MHz, 4.75 V to 5.25 V, DIP-16Product OverviewThe SN74LS161AN is a 4-bit Synchronous Binary Counter features an internal carrylook-ahead for application in high-speed counting designs. Synchronous operationis provided by having all flip-flops clocked simultaneously so that the outputschange coincident with each other when so instructed by the count-enable inputsand internal gating. This mode of operation eliminates the output countingspikes that are normally associated with asynchronous (ripple clock) counters,however counting spikes may occur on the (RCO) ripple carry output. A bufferedclock input triggers the four flip-flops on the rising edge of the clock inputwaveform. This counter is fully programmable, that is, the outputs may be presetto either level.
