COMES WITH A BEAUTIFUL PERSPEX PRESENTATION CASE AND SUPPLIED GISA CERTIFICATE.
 
THIS PARTICULAR STONE WAS BOUGHT IN 2011 FROM A SELLER IN PAKISTAN WITH THE COUNTRY OF ORIGEN INDICATED AS AFGANISTAN. IT HAS A VVS (EYE CLEAR) CLARITY WHICH MEANS NO INCLUSIONS ARE NOTICABLE WITH THE NAKED EYE. IT WAS ALSO SOLD AS AN NATURAL GEMSTONE WITH NO TREATMENTS APPLIED.
 
THIS KUNZITE GEMSTONE HAS A SUPPLIED GISA (GEMMOLOGY INSTITUTE OF SOUTHERN AFRICA) CERTIFICATE. THIS COMPANY DOES NOT HAVE A GOOD REPUTATION ONLINE. THEY COULD NOT BE CONTACTED AND THERE IS NO WEBSITE TO CHECK PAST REPORTS THAT I COULD FIND. I DO NOT KNOW IF STILL IN EXISTENCE. TO THEIR CREDIT THOUGH I HAVE SEEN CERTIFICATES BY THEM THAT I COULD INDEPENDENTLY VERIFY AS CORRECT.
 
INTERESTING INFO FROM THE WEB: Irradiation of spodumene of unknown type produces orange to yellow to greenish yellow color, quite unlike any known in naturally occurring spodumene. This material was found to be radioactive, indicating exposure in a nuclear reactor.

PASSED THE SCRATCH TEST: IT SCRATCHES GLASS IT IS HARDER THAN GLASS.

In general Kunzite is possibly the most famous gemstone with strong phosphorescence (basicly a fluorescence that lasts longer). Kunzite can have a magical glow of intense pinks and warm peach hues for several minutes after a UV light is removed.
(THE UV LIGHT HIT THE ELECTRONS. THEY JUMP AND FALL BACK. THEY RADIATE LIGHT OF A CERTAIN WAVELENGTH WHEN THEY DO WHICH IS SPECIFIC TO EACH ELEMENT IN THE MINERAL. THIS IS CALLED FLUORESCENCE. ONLY 10% OF GEMSTONES EXHIBIT A FLUORESCENCE AFFECT LIKE RUBIES, SAPPHIRE, TOPAZ, OPALS AND DIAMONDS. GLASS AND ALL NATURAL QUARTZ VARIETIES DOES NOT SHOW A UV AFFECT.)
PASSED THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY TEST: TESTED THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY WITH A MIZAR PRESTIGE SERIES 2 DIAMOND TESTER. IT MOVED UP THE LADDER FROM STANDARD LEVEL 3 TO LEVEL 4. FOR KUNZITE A LEVEL OF 4 IS THE NORM FOR THIS TESTER SINCE ITS THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY IS JUST BELOW THAT OF QUARTZ.
(WITH THIS TESTER GLASS MAKES NO MOVEMENT BUT QUARTZ ALSO MOVE UP A LITTLE TO NO 4.)

GREEN KUNZITE (HIDDENITE):
Kunzite or Hiddenite is an a fairly young stone in the market and consists basicly of the mineral Spodumene. Spodumene is a mineral consisting of lithium aluminium inosilicate and is a major source of lithium. Spodumene is a fairly prevalent and mostly dull in colour but it has two colored varieties, Kunzite (pink) and Hiddenite (green) which are very aesthetic.
Hiddenite is much rarer than Kunzite and is highly valued.. Strictly speaking, Hiddenite comes from only one locality in the world - Hiddenite, North Carolina. However, as newer deposits of green Spodumene have been discovered in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Brazil.
 
SOME EXTRA IDENTIFYING CHARACTERISTICS:
Kunzite exhibits pleochroism, a brilliant display of colors from yellow, pink, blue, and anything in between to purple when viewed from different angles.
Kunzite will lose color gradually to become colorless like glass. So, if the rock is stored in a dark place or the owner wears it for evening functions only, its likely to be Kunzite.
 
NATURAL OR SYNTHETIC?
Although synthetic kunzite has been produced, it is not commercially available. Glass is easy to rule out since Kunzite scratches glass. However there are stones that may imitate kunzite include synthetic quartz and topaz.
Synthetic gemstones are more likely to be rich and vivid in color, and are virtually inclusion or blemish-free when you look at them. Almost always, natural gemstones will have some type of inclusion or color differentiation.
