Grey endpapers, book sellers label on front pastedown, otherwise a very clean and soundly bound copy. Longmans Green & Co. Ltd. first published this book in a larger format Quarto, in 1895. It was reprinted in 1896, 1898, 1903 and 1923 and then went out of print. This edition is reproduced by photolithography in a reduced size, Extra Crown Octavo, from the original edition, first published in 1966, this is thus a first edition of this re-issue. A wonderful children's story, Created by Florence Upton and her Mother, Bertha, about two marionette puppet dolls and a golliwog, (The word Golliwogg, which is no longer considered a socially acceptable word (Not Politically Correct), originated from these books and is listed in the dictionary. It is no-longer politically correct to use the term), these books have become a favourite of collectors since their inception.
