Edited by A. Goodrich-Freer (Miss X) and the late John, Marquess of Bute, K.T. Hardcover published 1900 by C. Arthur Pearson Ltd, new and revised edition, no jacket. The boards are marked and worn, with bumps to corners and fraying starting at spine ends. Bookplate (arms of Irwin of Rathmoyle) of previous owner pasted to inside front board. There is a crack to the gutters at the inside front, showing netting, and the spine covering has come away from the text block. The name of the allegedly haunted house is Ballechin, as has been made clear by a previous owner, who has completed this word into the missing spaces throughout the book, as has been done with names that were shortened to initials only.
