A very good quarto size hardcover book in a good dustjacket.
The Special Subscribers' Edition, limited to 600 numbered copies; this is number 547.
Dustjacket front panel at some time separated and now repaired along the front spine hinge with white tape to reverse; small 3mm strip missing at head of spine band; 4cm closed tear to back panel from bottom edge close to spine hinge; now in loose protective plastic overwrap. 
Internally clean and tightly bound.
Paperblock top edge is gilt.
Red rexine covered boards with gilt aloe to front board and spine and titling to spine.
Collectors' authentication slip tipped in at half-title page; signed by author.
Subscriber's original purchasing cheque loosely inserted.

The total number of species recorded herein is 197, each of which is carefully described and illustrated in black and white. In addition there are no fewer that 106 beautiful colour reproductions.
The text is in simple language throughout and technical terms have been reduced to a minimum. With these facilities the plant lover should have little difficulty in recognising and naming flowering Aloes from the area covered, whether they be in the field or in a private garden.
