Over 150 years old, it is now known as the Arderne Gardens, created by father and son, Ralph H Arderne and Henry M Arderne. This family biography runs from about 1820 to 1914 and the activities of these people, their fortunes, good and bad, provide a lively picture of the Cape in the 19th Century.
