In 1938 the Sonderprojekte is establish under the watchful eye of Adolf Hitler, aka The Collector, and Germany begins to 'acquire' the great artworks of Europe.
Ernst Vogler is the art lover, a callow, idealistic twenty-four-year-old sent to Rome to return with a famous marble statue. It is a simple three-day job.
