South African born Gerald Hoberman wrote and photographically illustrated this 397-page book to critical acclaim.

Pioneering the on-axial lighting technique, Hoberman revolutionized the way in which coins are photographed.

The landmark book is regarded as the definitive work on the subject. There are 397 pages, 132 plates incorporating 329 color and 42 black and white illustrations and 200 original line drawings of the world’s most beautiful coins spanning a period of 2500 years of coinage.

The author’s main aim in writing this book was to accentuate the artistry and skill involved in both the coins themselves and their photographic reproduction. He has included a wide range of types and denominations.

In describing the coins he has provided detailed descriptions enabling the collector to enjoy every possible feature of design. The Art of Coins and Their Photography by Gerald Hoberman. Published in 1982, the book is a wonderful almost 400 page journey through 2500 years of numismatic history using text and amazing photographs of the world’s most beautiful coins. The dusk jacket is in under-averaged used and crinkled condition but the book itself is more than fine!
