Blue cloth boards are worn and rubbed, with front hinge splitting at head and tail of spine. Corners bumped and worn through. Would require sympathetic repair or re-cover. Contents are clean and tightly bound with tissue guarded frontispiece .
Foxing to ffeps and previous owners signature neatly written in pen. Colour plates are still bright and clear.
The scarce first impression of the standard work on South African birds. The first impression was published on 8th June 1940 and the second impression on 17th December of the same year.
