Hardcover published 1900 by S.W. Partridge & Co., no Jacket. Worn red cloth with colour and gilt stamped titling decoration to front and spine. Small chip (10 x 15mm) missing from the head of the spine covering. Patch of fading along the bottom edge of the rear board. Name of a previous owner in pen to the reverse of the tanned first endpaper, and again in pencil on the page opposite. Decorative end papers, and a tissue protected frontis, still intact. The fold-out map is present, with a tape repair to the rear. There is scattered foxing throughout. All illustrative plates are present and well bound.
