In The Book Of Yo!, Simon Woodroffe shares the lessons and secrets of his success. Eschewing the usual hype of personal success books, Woodroffe candidly shares his fears and anxieties as well as his passion and vision. The Book Of Yo! combines Woodroffes words with stunning visual imagery and the thoughts of Woodroffes heroes. It is an amazing journey into the mind of a business superstar.
I'd reached the age of 40 in the music and TV business and had some of the biggest names, in pop music as my clients. Although it might have seem to other that I had done OK - I'd had my own businesses - inside I felt frustrated that I had never reached my potential. I wanted to be rich and famous and successful and I felt my time was ticking away. I stared writing down my ideas and talking about them and one day a Japanese acquaintance said "what you should do Simon, is a conveyor belt sushi bar with girls in black PVC mini skirts. I'll never forget that - it was a really focused moment. Well, we never did the mini skirts, but those four words "conveyor belt sushi bar" were the catalyst that helped me stop into the insecurity for the next few years.
I usually have about six books on the go at any one time and, because my attention span is short, I s especially love books like this one that I can dip in and out of. The left-hand page is "Simons's story" and the heading and its explanation on each page are some of the things that I have learned along the way. Because human beings are so similar (and not) there will be pages that resonate with you and others where you'll think 'what is he on about?' I like lists too, so I put one on each page.
It has been a fulfilling experience writing down what is in my head and what I have spoken about for these last few years and I am proud of it.
