There were 25 full leather copies & another 125 half-leather numbered copies. The essays are: Thomas Baines, traveller, artist & man of enterprise; works of Thomas Baines; Baines' African collections. This book focuses on Baines's first residence in Africa (1842-1853). It also has 4 watercolours from Gregory's expedition to northern Australia and notes that the Baines's African Collections has 38 works from that series (including the famous alligator at Victoria River 1855).
