Description

Adrien Brody stars in this post-war drama from director Brady Corbet. After being separated from his wife Erzsébet (Felicity Jones), Hungarian architect and Holocaust survivor László Tóth (Brody) seeks a new life in America. Getting a job with his cousin at his furniture company, they receive a renovation commission from the son of wealthy industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren (Guy Pearce).

Although enraged at the work being done without his consent, Harrison employs László to design a monument in memory of his late mother, offering to help him repatriate his wife in return. After he is subjected to horrific abuse at the hands of Harrison, László spirals into addiction and is in danger of losing himself in the turmoil.
