The book details the history of the 32-Battalion, also known as the Buffalo Battalion, which was a unique infantry battalion in the South African Defence Force. The battalion was composed of black troops and non-commissioned officers from the former National Liberation Front of Angola (FNLA) and white officers from the South African Army.
The 32-Battalion was involved in various military operations in Angola and Namibia, engaging in insurgency, counter-insurgency, guerrilla warfare, and conventional warfare3. The unit was disbanded in 1993
