This is an interactive game book where the reader assumes the role of the hero - Lone Wolf last of the Kai Lords, who must make decisions, fight monsters , solve puzzles and make their way through passages to reach the end.

Lone Wolf was the other major British adventure gamebook series that had a cult following. Unlike its main rival - Fighting Fantasy - Lone Wolf books followed on from each other. They could be played individually but for best immersive experience and fun playing one after the other was the way to go. Also helped sales a bit I reckon. Were they better than Fighting Fantasy or vice versa? Can't really say as I only ever played book one. I think horses for courses where each series had its good and bad points, fans and detractors. Read it and make your own decision.

The Caverns of Kalte has Lone Wolf entering the Ice Kingdom, endeavoring to survive its perils in persuit of his sworn enemy.

The book has seen a bit of use and may have changed hands a few times. The book cover is covered with contact plastic and there is yellowing stickytape inside on the first and last page against spine, indicating possible seperation of cover from its spine at some stage - although it is currently in one piece.

The adventure sheets have been used, filled with pencil, but care and a quality erasor may remedy that. All pages present, clean and secure in binding, with the page edges showing acceptible signs of use and age. There is a book exchange stamp on the first page.

Lone Wolf books were originally published by Beaver Books but changed to Red Fox in the early '90s. Both versions are quite collectible, fun to play and also useful to get children to read. Bargain start price if one compares to what other sellers are asking.
