Okay, if you're the gadget type then here's the one for you. The Viper's design won Blade Magazine's most innovative American design for 2005. With practice this knife can be operated smoothly in either hand. The design incorporates logical counter-switching that locks the blade and prevents it from unwanted opening. On top of the blade is a built in (and removable) clip that allows the knife to quickly hook on your belt loop.
The CSR Viper high-tech tactical folding knife is one sleek looking blade. Relatively lightweight at 150 grams, the Viper features a 6061-T6 anodized aluminum handle, and 70mm Sandvik 13C26 stainless steel blade with a bead-blasted finish. These are decent specs, but what really sets this knife apart from ordinary pocket folders is its unique toggle mechanism. While photos do not do this knife justice, try and visualise (from the pictures) the 360° toggle action motion. This knife opens quickly, locks strongly and securely, and then closes quickly as well.
Columbia's Viper can be clipped to a pocket or belt with its removable/reversible pocket clip, and can be secured to a belt loop or D-ring. The Viper is available in plain edge and partially serrated edge styles, and there is a rather sharp looking (forgive the pun) “urban camo” edition that substitutes a Tungsten DLC coating for the other knives’ bead-blasted finish. The knife competes with the like sof the Kerhsaw E.T. knife from the USA (also a very capable blade) which is currently priced online at about $65-$75 and up.
Great gift idea for all men and boys, especially those interested in gadgets, weapons, the outdoors, hunting and/or knife collecting
