Plot Outline of The Daylight War
Arlen Bales, the Painted Man, has returned to the Hollow after two years away, accompanied by his promised, the fierce Renna Tanner. They find the Hollow prospering, with new defences and a growing population, but tensions are rising with the arrival of Count Thamos, who seeks to reclaim the region for Angiers. Meanwhile, in the Krasian desert nation, Ahmann, the Deliverer, has united the tribes and expanded into the green lands, taking the duchy of Lakton. Guided by his Damajah, the cunning Inevera, Ahmann seeks to conquer the Hollow and secure Leesha Paper, his intended wife, for his harem.
As the Daylight War looms, Arlen prepares the Hollow for a massive demon attack while grappling with his feelings for Leesha. Renna struggles to adapt to life in the Hollow and faces jealousy from the Haveners who still see Leesha as Arlen's true love. Ahmann, driven by prophecy and Inevera's ambition, marches towards the Hollow, determined to claim both the land and Leesha.
The climax of the story sees Arlen and Jardir engaged in a brutal showdown, while the Haveners and Krasians clash on the battlefield. The fate of the Hollow, and perhaps all of humanity, hangs in the balance as the two would-be Deliverers fight for dominance. The outcome of the war will determine the future of the relationship between the Krasians and the greenlanders, and the ultimate fate of both cultures.
