don't think I may have read a better account of Desert War than Barnett's Desert Generals.By all means a revisionist history ,the book traces the careers of five British Generals in North Africa: O'Connor,Cunnigham,Ritchie,Auchinleck,Montgomery.Their operations represent collective British effort in preventing Rommel's Deutsche Afrika Korps from seizing Egypt, Middle East

Quoted by Rick Atkinson in one of his books, so searched for this book to read it. Got a copy for a fair price, in very good condition, and was very impressed by the writing. This book created a huge uproar in Britain at the original publishing, and this copy has a couple of updates by the author telling how his version has turned out to be confirmed, and Monty has been a bit tarnished in his reputation. Mr. Barnett does not pull his punches, just like Mr. Atkinson. Highly recommended
