Decorated and Embossed green Boards with black and gilt decoration. No faults. Full-colour front illustration. 217 pages, 32 black and white reproductions throughout. Auction catalogue (November 28 - December 1, 1975) of Russian rare books, pamphlets, drafts and old musical scores of the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th century originally collected by Sergei Diaghilev (1872-1929), including listings for the first Russian book printed in Moscow (1564), and first editions of Gogol, Tolstoy, Dostoyevky and Pushkin. Introduction by Serge Lifar (1905-1986) is in French, the catalogue listings are in English. Eight hundred and twenty-six lots up for bid over the four-day sale. A solid, clean and crisp copy without inscriptions or markings, gilt to original green boards remains bright. Complete with the original corrigenda slip and an unused bidding slip laid in. In a good if somewhat edge-nicked & creased glassine wrapper.
