The Diary of Henry Francis Finn
Compiled from Original Sources and Edited by James Stuart and D. McK. Malcolm - Hardcover
The diary of Henry Francis Fynn, written with ink manufactured from flowers, and carried many thousands of miles in the skin of an elephants ear, is the earliest available record of the present day city of Durban. Much of the original diary was buried in the grave of his younger brother, Frank, by the African people present, who thought it belonged to Frank. Henry, therefore, rewrote most of the contents from memory, mainly between , when he returned to live in Natal. The diary covers the years 1824 to 1836.
