Since ancient times, the Nile proved to be the most entriguing geographical enigma for explorers,adventurers and cartographers.  Only in the middle of the nineteenth century was the mystery of the source of the Nile discovered by a number of tenacious explorers amongst them John Hanning Speke (1827 - 1864) and James Augustus Grant (1827 - 1892).
