The Fifth Army by General Sir Hubert Gough

A first edition hardcover published by Hodder & stoughton in 1931

Blue cover boards with gold writing to the spine & animal impression on spine & front cover in red, chipping & tears to extremities of spine, internal binding is tight & strong, foxing & agecolouring to pages.

The previous book owner was was Major K P Apthorp of the Royal Irish who lived in South Africa, he has signed on the front flyleaf.

There is also a newscutting from the Sunday Times of Johannesburg dated January 24th 1932 concerning the author & his book.

A good solid reading copy.
