While literature on the subject of the railways of the early period of German colonial railways has been extensively printed, no comprehensive work had been published until 1997. The book does not presume to give a complete railway history of this country as there are still many themes and aspects open for research to be done. It is trusted that a contribution has been made to the history of our country. May The first 100 years of State Railways in Namibia also serve to remember all railway workers who built the railway systems under sometimes very difficult circumstances, and who gave their loyal support to the railways over the past 100 years.
