"Written in spritely language, this delightful book serves as an encyclopedia of grapes and wines without the formalized structuring that relegates encyclopediae into the dismal and often sluggish realm of "reference" material. Here is an educational and eminently readable book you'll want to read - again and again." (Inside jacket)
"For the art lover, as well as the wine lover, each great variety is illustrated with superb full-color photographs taken over a three year period in the experimental vineyards at the University of California at Davis. Each cluster was picked at the moment of peak ripeness. Not a single photograph was retouched nor altered in any way." (Inside jacket) The book is printed on 80 pound vellum paper stock with double blank pages as there is no printing on the backs of any of the photos. The photographs are suitable for framing.
Bern Ramey was the Vice President of Browne Vintners, the wine division of Joseph E. Seagram and Sons, Inc. His inscription is on the bottom of the title page. The book measures 10" W X 14" H. The dust jacket is worn and has been taped but the book itself is in absolutely pristine condition. There could not be a more perfect gift for any wine lover than this limited first edition classic.
