Autobiography of Henry OKelly Webber who having arrived in the Cape Colony in 1887 lost his money in a Port Elizabeth share broking scheme but then started afresh in a Stutterhem wattle-growing business ultimately becoming prominent in Transvaal mining and banking affairs. He motivated the introduction of Chinese labour on the Witwatersrand goldfields and became president of the Chamber of Mines. The book contains much on early Johannesburg.
