An important feature of this book are the twenty superb colour plates.
The first seven which include 42 photographs comprising two plates of habitats, followed by two of larvae and three of adults, all in their natural settings.
The remaining 13 comprise four plates of the larvae of 40 species and 5 subspecies or forms on their host plants drawn from life, and nine plates photographed from set specimens on which are depicted 110 figures of adults of all 57 species and many of the subspecies.
