Vol.I: xxi + 598pp. + 8 illustrated plates (all present) + additional plates not mentioned in list of illustrations. They are: Monument erected by Baron van Plettenberg, Hon. R. Southey, Notes on Boer Life and Character, Camp on the Itafa Amalinde at Port Natal. FOLD-OUT MAP AT REAR.


Vol.II: xix + 600pp. + 14 illustrated plates (all present). FOLD-OUT MAP AT REAR.


NOTE: Appendix H from page 569-583 has proven to be a very useful source in the study of early Afrikaans Folk-Songs "Volksliederen", as it contains early versions with slight variations of some of the most popular songs of the day.
Volume I is in very good condition although part of the front endpaper has been excised vertically. Volume II is also in very good condition with two former owner bookplates on the front paste down (H.F. Thompson) and endpaper (G.B. Nourse).
