The Illustrated Book of Guns and Rifles

A review of the early days of the musket and the shotgun, and the quest for long-range accuracy that culminated in the first rifles.

Breechloading and repeating weapons came to the fore in the 19th century, and the battlefield was transformed beyond recognition when infantry battalions acquired machine guns. Late came assault rifles and submachine guns.

All are described and placed in context with the aid of more than 245 illustrations.
