SIGNED & DATED BY THE AUTHOR AT THE BOOK LAUCH ON SATURDAY,THE 3RD SEPTEMBER, 2000, SOFTCOVER, PICTORIAL COVERS, LANDSCAPE FORMAT, ILLUSTRATED, INDEX, 101 PAGES, 29.5 CMS X 20.8 CMS, CONDITION: AS NEW.

The Illustrated History of Hartbeespoort Dam marks the centenary of the completion of the dam wall in 1923. It is a story of vision, perseverance, and national pride, but it is also one of shameful racism and environmental ignorance.  The book covers some of the less-known facts about the dam, the problems it confronts, and the rich heritage of the catchment area that feeds it.

Vincent Carruthers, has written a number of books and articles about the history and landscape of the Magaliesberg region and he was instrumental in having the area proclaimed a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2015.  His partner, Mary, is also a well known author.
