Hardcover published by Methuen & Co, 1901, no jacket and now protected in cellophane. Gilt titling and decoration to the front board, spine slightly sunned. Contemporary signature of a previous owner and date on the half-title page. All 23 illustrative plates present, as is the fold-out orographical map by the author at the rear of the book, though this does have a short tear to an edge. Pages 77, 78, 79 and 80 have suffered some minor loss to the edges, due to insects, as have pages 393, 394, 395 and 396.
