The Johannesburg saga by John R. Shorten The book celebrates 80 years of people, events, gold mining, municipal departments, political squabbles, commerce, trade, sports and progress in Johannesburg.  Other outlets sell this book for a rip-off price.

Alas, the dust-cover has deteriorated whereas the nearly 1200 pages are in very good condition (white not faded).  It is packed with photos in black and white and colour.
