The Kafir, The Hottentot and the Frontier Farmer ~ from the Venerable Archdeacon Merriman

Small hard cover. Spine has come away (see photo) but pages are still intact and bound.
(c) 1853
Fragile but good overall condition - a collector's treasure

The Kafir, The Hottentot and the Frontier Farmer is a vivid account of missionary life in the Cape Colony, drawn from the journals of Archdeacon Nathaniel James Merriman later Bishop of Grahamstown. First published in 1853 and edited by Bishop Robert Gray, the book offers detailed observations of the Xhosa, Khoikhoi, and settler communities during a turbulent period of frontier conflict and cultural exchange. Rich in ethnographic detail and colonial perspective, it remains a valuable artifact of 19th-century South African history.
