Green end papers. 16 prelims, 133 pages, full page black and white portrait of the author, thirty tipped-in full colour plates and nine wood engravings. Angas travelled to South Africa in 1846 and spent two years in Natal and the Cape. His drawings and watercolours published in this book depict the local Pondo, Xhosa, Zulu, Hottentot and Malay people as well as views of Cape Town, Durban, Genadendal, Paarl and Somerset West.
This copy is in very good condition, the bottom corner of the green cover jas a 1 cm fracture, see picture.
