Sathieseelan Gurulingam Govender (more popularly known as Ronnie Govender) was born on 16 May 1934 in Cato Manor. The legendary writer, playwright, poet, journalist, novelist and activist died in Cape Town on 29 April 2021 at the age of 86.

It is the OLD SOUTH AFRICA where LAW AND ORDER rules and SEPARATE BUT EQUAL is the mantra. Defined by type, each character blazes across the pages - theres Mr So-So - the Lahnee (of course), and the melanin-impaired plus the obligatory Wit Ous. Sergeant Labuschagne could be a LABUSHAIN. The famous (some Would say infamous) White House Hotel snatched from the English countryside and plonked on the highest of Mount Edgecombes rolling hills of sugarcane rebounds with action, drunken and sober in The Lahnees Pleasure.
