LEONARD CAMPBELL TAYLOR (1874 - 1969) WAS A BRITISH PAINTER, MAINLY OF PORTRAITS AND INTERIORS IN A TRADITIONAL STYLE. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE ROYAL ACADEMY AND HIS PATRONS WERE THE COURTAULDS.

THIS ITEM IS A LARGE FRAMED FINE ART PRINT WHICH WAS PROBABLY PRODUCED PRE 1930. THE ORIGINAL WAS TITLED "THE LETTER" BY THE ARTIST

THE PRINT DEPICTS A 19th CENTURY INTERIOR SCENE WITH A BRUNETTE WOMAN IN A LIGHT BLUE DRESS STANDING NEAR THE CENTER OF THE COMPOSITION, READING A LETTER UNDER A CENTERED ARCH BESIDE A WINDOW. VICTORIAN STYLE CHAIRS, RUGS, LARGE WINDOWS AND DECORATIONS ARE ALSO PRESENT WITHIN THE PIECE. THE IDENTITY OF THE WOMAN PORTRAYED IS NOT CERTAIN BUT BELIEVED TO HAVE POSSIBLY BEEN A MEMBER OF THE COURTAULD FAMILY

THE PRINT HAS BEEN ATTACHED TO A BOARD AND IS FRAMED IN A DEEP GOLD PAINTED WOOD FRAME WITH PLASTER EMBELLISHMENTS ALONG THE SIDES AND CORNERS, ALSO GOLD PAINTED

STAMPS/MARKS ETC : NOT MARKED OR STAMPED

CONDITION : THE WOOD FRAME HAS OBVIOUSLY BEEN MOVED AROUND A BIT, RESULTING IN LOSSES TO THE EMBELLISHMENT ORNAMENTATION ALONG THE SIDES AND TWO CORNERS. THE WOOD ITSELF IS NOT DAMAGED IN ANY WAY AND NEITHER IS THE PRINT
