THE MISFITS: A STUDY OF SEXUAL OUTSIDERS
Colin Wilson

Condition: Good. Cover shows minor edge wear and gentle surface rubbing; spine firm, pages mildly toned.

About the Book
Colin Wilsons The Misfits (first published 1988) continues the authors lifelong fascination with the boundaries of human consciousness and behaviour here turning his probing intellect toward sexual deviance, creativity, and the psychology of outsiders.

Subtitled A Study of Sexual Outsiders, the work blends biography, literary analysis, and philosophical speculation. Wilson examines figures from the Marquis de Sade to Yukio Mishima, D.H. Lawrence, Bertrand Russell, and others, tracing what he terms the deviants of genius those whose erotic lives and psychological excesses, rather than being aberrations, reflect heightened energies of imagination and will.

The result is both a provocative social document and a continuation of the existential themes first explored in his classic The Outsider (1956). As Anthony Burgess quipped in The Observer: You will enjoy this strange book because it is very firmly about sex.

About the Author
Colin Wilson (19312013) was a British writer and philosopher whose early success with The Outsider made him a leading figure of the 1950s Angry Young Men. Over his prolific career, he published works on philosophy, psychology, crime, mysticism, and the occult, always seeking to chart the outermost frontiers of human potential. The Misfits represents his unflinching inquiry into the interplay of sexuality, creativity, and moral imagination.
